Gita Surendranath is an anointed and dynamic woman of God who hails from the beautiful land of India. Her ‘very’ personal encounter with the lord in the year 1972 has been a transforming experience for her. Coming from a non-Christian background her encounter with the Lord gave her a new meaning and purpose to life. She knew instantly that she was ‘saved to serve’ and to ‘carry the light’ to those who are in darkness.
Her new found faith in God led her to spend hours at HIS feet… years she always terms as ‘priceless’. The early years of her Christian life had been very challenging but through it all she has experienced the faithfulness and goodness of God. She refers to them as years of growth and maturing in HIM. Gita is a woman of ‘Prayer, Passion & Perseverance’. She has dedicated her life to serve God and to help others discover God’s unique plan of destiny for them. Being a people’s person her life centers around serving humanity from every strata of society be it the rural or urban, the rich or the poor, the educated or the illiterate.
Her ministry started on a small note but she was careful not to despise the day of small beginnings. Inspired and challenged by the need she started sharing her testimony along with brief messages from the Word of God to those around her. God honored those little steps of faith. The results were amazing. God moved powerfully in those meetings; souls were saved, sick were healed, lives delivered, set free and transformed for HIS glory.
Encouraged and enthused she set her vision higher. From small meetings held within the precincts of the Church she stepped out to conduct meetings in the city. People were blessed beyond measure. One door led to another and soon God opened ‘city-wide’ doors for her. Gita crossed the boundaries of cities and started crisscrossing through the length and breadth of India as led of the Lord, boldly declaring the message of HOPE to her countless hearers. God in HIS faithfulness has helped her birth and establish several fellowships in India apart from strengthening many existing ones. Addressing and speaking in seminars and conferences has been a regular feature in her ministry schedule. Seasons of teaching sessions has enabled her to mentor and train many women into leadership positions. Her contribution to Women’s Aglow in some states of India is acknowledged and recognized.
Gita’s compassionate heart and gentleness endears her to one and all be it the young or the old. She is truly a Mother to the motherless, a Friend to the friendless and a Help to the helpless. As a motivational speaker, mother, teacher, preacher, counselor and intercessor she ‘pours of herself ‘ into lives in an amazing manner because of HIS grace. The unction under which she moves has the ability to ‘ignite’ fires of revival wherever she goes. No wonder her motto is “Plundering Hell & Populating Heaven!” Some refer to her as a ‘Live Wire’, yet others term her as a ‘Fiery Preacher’ but ask her and she says “I’m still that lump of clay in the Potter’s hand wanting to do my utmost for HIS highest.”
Indian culture believes in strong family ties and Gita is truly a family person. Gita and her dear husband, a retired Army Officer & Medical Doctor by profession, are based in New Delhi, India. Her encouragement, moral support and prayers have been a source of great blessing to her husband both in his profession and Medical ministry. She in turn considers her husband’s support & prayers as invaluable bringing in immense strength to her. They have two God fearing grown up children, a blessed son in law and a precious granddaughter, their bundle of joy!
